South Peak

Eli Burakian ’00

One place that is the most under appreciated part of the mountain is the South Peak. You know the Carriage Road that comes off the summit and hits Glencliff? If you go over Glencliff about ten feet there’s a little spur trail.  You need to know to look for it. I’m not sure if there’s a sign now but there wasn’t one then. And what I love about it is that it’s the best view of the peak from high up. It’s clear up there but nobody goes. I love having the mountains to myself. I don’t go up there to spend time with a gazillion people on the summit so you can go up on a busy Saturday and go up there and nobody is there. So that’s probably my favorite spot on the mountain.
